Coaching Information
Clearance Information
In order to be approved as a coach, and in order to be in compliance with the Peters Township policy, an individual wishing to coach MUST provide PTSA with TWO clearances: a Criminal Record Check AND a Child Abuse History Clearance. Please carefully read the instructions below on how to accomplish that.
- First, you must complete a Criminal Record Check. The fee is $10 (see below for information on reimbursement). You can complete this process ONLINE or download the FORM and send it in the mail (address is on form). If you do this process online, your clearance will be provided immediately. Email a copy of that clearance to Maureen Nee, Registrar. If you send in the form, your response will take longer to come back. However, when that clearance is obtained, email a copy to Maureen Nee.
- Once the Criminal Record Check is completed, you will need to proceed to Step 2. Please download the next FORM for the Child Abuse History Clearance. Fill this out and ATTACH a copy of the Criminal Record Check. Send both of these to the mailing address listed on the Child Abuse History form. There is also a $10 fee (see below for information on reimbursement). Once this clearance is received, send a copy of the clearance to Maureen Nee, preferably by email. You can also fax it to 1-949-639-6368 or send a copy to her address: 111 Mount Blaine Drive, McMurray, PA 15317 (Attn: Soccer).
- The whole clearance process may take 4-6 weeks, but as soon as Step 1 is completed and Maureen Nee has received a copy of that first clearance, she will forward that to Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department, who will grant a 30 day temporary clearance, while Step 2 is still in process.
- Please note: any Mail-in payments MUST be by either certified check or money order. No personal checks are accepted.
- Fee reimbursement can be obtained from the PTSA Treasurer. Please send a copy of your receipts to Chuck Harrison, 210 Thompsonville Rd., McMurray, PA 15317.
- Both of the forms for the Criminal Record Check and the Child Abuse History Clearance are also available at the Community Recreation Center or can be downloaded off the Peters Township Parks and Recreation website.
Field Lining Information
Coaches' Responsibilities:
- If you are the home team then you are responsible for the field during your game time.
These responsibilities include:- Making sure the fields are lined
- Goals and nets are not damaged and safe (ALL PORTABLE GOALS MUST HAVE AT LEAST ONE SANDBAG ON THEM AT ALL TIMES)
- Corner flags are present and put away if you are the last game
- After game clean up of all clothing articles, wrappers, water bottles, and oranges peels
- As the coach, you are responsible for contacting your team regarding cancellations of games and practices
DO NOT rely soley on the field status website to alert your parents.
Field Lining
- Field lining is every coach's responsibility. If the lines are not maintained throughout the week they will become faint and will be difficult to preserve.
- You will be assigned by your commissioner to line a field before your game time. Do not underestimate the importance of this task. If you feel that you may not have time to do it before your game in the morning then do it Friday night. If you can't line the field, contact the other coach and ask him to do it.
- The paint and liners for Elm Grove field are found in the metal box at half field. There are two paints colors (red and white). The red is used for the inside u-11/u12 field. I suggest that two people line this field as it is large. Please do both the red and white lines!
- The paint and liner for Venetia field is in a plastic storage box on the right side of the field. Please contact me if you don't have the combination
- Paint and liners for GH, HB, and PSC are found in the shed at the top of the hill near PSC. The combination is the same for this lock as well. You must push and pull on the lock several times to open it!
- Paint liners for Rees are found in the metal box on the right side of Rees field.
- If you have a Wednesday practice then please find a parent or two that stays around and request that he/she would line the field during practice.
Field Cancellations
- Always use your best judgment and common sense before you play on any field. The field status website may not be updated or could be wrong. If it is raining and has been for some time, or if you arrive at your field to find it soft and you may tear it up by practicing on it - then don't practice. These are your fields!
- The phone system is no longer in use. Do not call the hotline
- Status of the fields is found here. You can enter your e-mail address on this page and you will receive an e-mail when I post a change to the status.
- If you see conditions that need attention please contact me ASAP.
