BD21329_Clearance information

Clearances – PTSA Volunteers need only to complete eKidSafe - Peters Township Parks & Rec has agreed to accept it as a substitute for PATCH or ACT 33/34 forms

1) Peters Township Requirement   All adult volunteers are required to have a Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse History Clearance pursuant to a policy of the Peters Township Parks & Recreation Department (effective 3/1/06).  Many of our coaches are already on a list of approved coaches available on the Peters Township Parks & Rec website (see list at www.peterstownship.com under “Township Departments”, then “Sports Associations”, then the PDF file for “Approved Coaches for Sports Associations”).

NewRecently, Peters Township has decided to accept the eKidSafe background check (available online and required by PA West ).  If a coach does not have a clearance, they must apply for it online on the eKidSafe website, before coaching practices or games.  Commissioners must communicate this information to all of their coaches that are not on the approved list.

PTSA covers the cost of obtaining the background check and clearance for those volunteers that request it, but PTSA requests that the $10 online eKidSafe fee be paid by credit card by the applicant to ensure timely clearance being obtained

2) PA West Requirement – eKidSafe  PA West has implemented for Fall 2007 this online clearance check system, under the name eKidSafe. This mandatory program applies to any volunteer over the age of 18  (including administrators, coaches, assistant coaches, team managers, referees, board members, and staff).  The clearance costs $10 and lasts for 2 years.  This year, some of our coaches may be able to provide copies of their Act 33/34 clearance forms to PA West instead of this eKidSafe program.  Once you complete this online clearance check, you can receive a $10 reimbursement by sending your request and address to PTSA’s Treasurer:  Jamie Ross ptsarossclan@yahoo.com

For more information on eKidSafe and to begin the online clearance process:

http://www.pawest-soccer.org/riskmanagement.html

Or go directly to the online form:

eKidSafe Clearance Form

PTSA volunteers should complete all requested information on the form and be sure to toggle Peters Twp from the “Member Club” dropdown menu

Any youth athletic association that knowingly violates the Peters Township policy is subject to disciplinary measures that may include restrictions on facility and/or field usage, and suspension of coaches and/or officers.
